Geotechnical Engineer

Leffler_MikeMr. Leffler is one of CED’s Geotechnical Engineers who specializes in assessing the stability and strength of soil and rock materials, as well as groundwater conditions   Mr. Leffler holds both a Masters degree in Civil Engineering from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Dayton. He has more than 27 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services in which he has managed and performed senior review for thousands of projects, which include transportation projects, high to low rise structures, parking garages, healthcare projects, schools, waterfront projects, slopes, reinforced slopes, retaining walls, utilities and dams.  For these projects, he has developed and provided oversight for field investigation programs, laboratory testing programs, and performed geotechnical engineering analysis.

His extensive experience includes geotechnical evaluation and analysis of bearing capacity and settlement for both shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, lateral earth pressures for earth retention systems, dewatering systems, pavements and ground-modification systems.  His experience also includes evaluation and analysis for new embankment dams as well as rehabilitation of existing or failed embankment dams including evaluation of seepage and seepage control features.

Mr. Leffler is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Maryland and Virginia and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Association of State Dam Safety Officials and the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories.
