Biography/Background
Dr. Walter is one of CED’s Biomechanical Engineers who, while pursuing his Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida, was responsible for subject-specific computational models for subjects with stroke and spinal-cord injuries.
He also earned a Masters and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida, where he performed research in the Computational Biomechanics Laboratory and specialized in instrumented knee joint replacements and dynamic musculo-skeletal modeling.
After attending University of Florida, he worked at the University of Melbourne, Australia, where he performed research on natural and implanted knee joints using advanced imaging and modeling techniques. He continued this research at the University of Denver’s Human Dynamics Lab and Center for Orthopedic Biomechanics, utilizing state-of-the-art experimental techniques to study human motion.
Dr. Walter’s work includes injury causation and analysis of human environmental interactions. He also possesses additional knowledge with regards to testing of automotive components and ATD’s (Anthropomorphic Test Devices – Crash Test Dummies) . He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts in several of the leading international and national biomechanics journals and conferences, and continues to perform scientific research on biomedical engineering. Throughout his career, he has served as a peer-reviewer for several biomechanics journals and helped develop funding for the University of Melbourne’s Biomechanics Lab. Dr. Walter served as a guest lecturer for several subjects in Florida and Australia including Computational Biomechanics, Numerical Methods for Engineers, and Introduction to Biomechanics.
