Biography/Background

Nathan Ryba, P.E, PMP joined CED after serving eight years as an Engineer Officer in the United States Army. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. Ryba was commissioned as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ryba completed the Engineer Basic Office Course where he was trained and certified in U.S. Army Engineer/Construction Operations.

Next, Mr. Ryba served as a Construction Platoon Leader in the 82nd Airborne Division. He managed a 30-person engineer/construction section responsible for earth work operations for site design. Mr. Ryba was promoted to Executive Officer of his unit, where he ran daily operations for maintenance, logistics, administrative, and operations. Mr. Ryba was then deployed to Afghanistan, where he was promoted to Assistant Operations Officer for a 1,200-person organization. He managed engineer operations consisting of road sanitation of explosive hazards, trafficability assessments of roads, and road repairs.

Upon return from Afghanistan, Mr. Ryba attended the U.S. Army’s Engineer Captain Career Course and graduated from Missouri University of Science & Technology with a Master’s in Civil Engineering. He served as a Company Commander at an engineering company. In this role he managed Engineer Operations including site investigation, site management, survey operations, construction planning, and operations.

Mr. Ryba’s military training has prepared him to provide sound engineering principles and creative insight to develop investigative reports that shed light into the causes and effects encountered in the world of forensic engineering.
