Thomas Hannon, P.E., is a CED Technologies Inc. Mechanical Engineer with a background in manufacturing, railcar and locomotive maintenance operations and equipment, automated machine tools, product design and development, and product testing.

With 30 plus years of mechanical engineering experience, Mr. Hannon does not only possess an understanding of various types of equipment but also the product design efforts that went into developing them.  In addition to years spent with applications engineering and R&D of custom high precision machines, he developed heavy lift equipment for Locomotive and Light Rail Vehicle maintenance facilities.

Mr. Hannon was the Engineering Manager at the Macton Corporation, a manufacturer of heavy lifting equipment for Rail Car and Locomotive repair shops and an engineered-to-order manufacturer of large moving structures for architectural and industrial applications.  During his time there, he traveled regularly to various Mass Transit Railroad maintenance facilities and Freight Railroad locomotive maintenance shops to develop specific solutions for rail vehicle maintenance and component change-out.

Mr. Hannon is a patent co-holder for a rail vehicle wheel set changing system referred to as the Split Rail Trolley system, US Patent No 7,900,562 and US Patent No. 8,397,643-B2.

Mr. Hannon has experience with quality systems and has personally developed ISO 9001 Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and related forms to facilitate ISO 9001 registration. As Engineering Manager, he was a founding member of the Lean Manufacturing Initiative Steering Committee, which developed Lean strategy and tactics for the Macton engineering group. As Customer Service Manager for Macton, he was directly involved and responsible for all Field Service activity. This included service call desk, parts desk, field service calls, in-field equipment inspections, training and the coordination of new equipment installations.

Mr. Hannon began his engineering career with The Moore Tool Company, an internationally recognized machine tool builder of ultra-high precision multi-axis Jig Grinding machines and single point Diamond Turning Machines. He held positions of increasing responsibility from mechanical project engineer to Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Product Manager.

While at Moore, Mr. Hannon traveled extensively to Europe and Asia, meeting with key customers.  There, he leveraged his technical expertise to personally market the Company’s specially configured ultra-precise grinding machines.  He also led a cooperative effort between Moore and a Japanese-based control manufacturer.  This effort facilitated a transfer of technology and proprietary process knowledge to successfully integrate new generation control systems into Moore’s grinding machine product lines.
