Over the course of November, the team at CED participated in the Pink Pledge charity event benefiting Breast Cancer Research through the Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center in Connecticut. Funds raised through the Pink Pledge enable the Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center to continue to provide medical excellence and compassionate care to all women, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Norma Pfriem Breast Center was the first freestanding community breast center in Connecticut to offer one-stop coordination of care, patient navigation, and rapid diagnosis. It is also one of only 500 centers nationwide accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and is a member of the prestigious National Consortium of Breast Care Centers.
CED provided multiple ways for our team to participate. From wearing a piece of pink clothing, which generated a donation by CED on the employee’s behalf, to making a donation to wear jeans on the three Fridays the offices are open in November. An additional option took advantage of the trend “No Shave November”. For every week someone did not shave their beard, CED contributed a donation.
“Every year we try to find a meaningful way to make a difference in our communities. This year we took the Pink Pledge to benefit the Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center, not too far from our headquarters in Shelton, CT,” explained Kerry Arisio, Human Resources Manager at CED. “I loved seeing the creative ways our team wore pink and made an effort to participate.”
The CED team really came together for this challenge! As depicted in the photos, we styled pink outfits and many of our men grew their beards (despite the itchiness!). As a result of everyone’s efforts, CED will be donating a total of $2,500 to Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center on December 1, this year’s Giving Back on Giving Tuesday. We’re proud to support this organization as they work to provide medical care to women battling breast cancer.
