Biography/Background:
Samuel Taylor joined CED Technologies, Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer after transitioning from the Active Duty Army in 2021. He continues to serve in the Army Reserve as an Engineer Officer with the rank of Major. In June 2023, Mr. Taylor’s Army Reserve unit was activated, and he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. While in the country, Mr. Taylor was forward deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He redeployed in March 2024 and returned to CED. He is stationed with the 367th Engineer Battalion in Saint Joseph, Minnesota, where he serves as the Battalion Executive Officer.
Mr. Taylor holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla, Missouri, where he earned graduate certificates in Project Management and Military Construction Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Mr. Taylor is a registered professional engineer in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Mr. Taylor holds a BOT-3000E Digital Tribometer certificate, a Certified XL Tribometrist certificate, a Certified Building Inspector, Certified Forklift Operator, Haag Certified Inspector – Residential (in progress), an Operator of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) and Telehandlers certificate, and the OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour Construction certificates. Mr. Taylor is a Private Pilot working toward earning an Instrument Rating and a Commercial Pilot certificate, is a Project Management Professional, and is a Remote Pilot of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (commercial drones).
Mr. Taylor is a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the Army Engineer Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Snow & Ice Management Association, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (in progress).
Prior to joining CED, Mr. Taylor served ten years in the United States Army in the 1st Infantry Division, the 25th Infantry Division, and the 1st Engineer Brigade. As a platoon leader in the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas, then-First Lieutenant Taylor was responsible for the readiness of thirty combat engineer Soldiers and over $2 million worth of equipment. During his tenure, the platoon maintained a 100% operational readiness rate, a 100% “first-time-go” qualification, and a 75% “Distinguished” rating at Gunnery tables. During his staff time in the 25th Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks, Hawai’i, then-Captain Taylor coordinated the first joint (Army-Marine Corps) convoy live fire and surface escort exercise between Army ground Soldiers and Marine Corps aviators. He coordinated several overseas movement of equipment and air movements of over a thousand personnel overseas between the training site and home station. As a company commander, he oversaw the construction of a new trench and bunker training site using troop labor, saving nearly $1 million in taxpayer funds. He was accountable for over 10,000 line items of Army property, including the maintenance of a $36 million barracks building. Then-Captain Taylor culminated his Active Duty service as an instructor for the Engineer Captains Career Course in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Since joining CED, Mr. Taylor has worked on over 250 separate cases. He has testified as both a plaintiff and a defense expert witness in premises liability and construction equipment cases. Mr. Taylor offers expertise in building and fire code compliance, construction defects, elevators, escalators, and moving walkways (in progress), explosive and mechanical demolition, facility maintenance, firearm safety and ballistics, lighting design and analysis, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), hydraulics and pneumatics, machinery operation, guarding, and control, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, occupational safety and health, personnel management, premises liability, product liability, property management, risk management, and roof inspections (in progress).
